During the year 194, Septimius Severus crushed Niger’s resistance. He was captured and executed. His head was sent to Byzantium but the city continued to resist to Septimius Severus. The emperor led the first victorious foreign wars of his reign. Those wars had to contain, outside the Empire, the oriental neighbors and to increase, inside the Empire, Severus’ popularity.
